From my first ever posting to Catterick in 1985, to working for David as his Adjutant in Verden and as a junior Staff Officer in Andover, his love of life, of sport and the warmth of his and Caroline’s friendship has been an inspiration. His welcome to Tisbury after a gap of nearly 20 years was typically generous and I’m sorry that we will not have the chance to share that pint in The Boot, David. God bless.
