Fond memories of Fishing

Created by edward usborne 5 years ago

Our first encounter was a 'Good morning' across the river (Findhorn) followed by a very polite doffing of the cap &'A very good morning to you to'. We sat on the old wooden bench looking over The Colonels Pool & watched in awe as this stranger cast a line that snaked across the water with nothing more than a flick of the wrist. Several days later we ventured up to the pub for a pint & a light lunch only to be confronted by our fishing opposition holding court in the very small public bar - we had met Colonel Griffiths & the 'Army' the rest is history as the saying goes. Every May for the last 15 years we have fished opposite David & 'The Army' as we affectionately christened them, always getting together for a catch up over long lunches. They have waded the river over to us in fine  military fashion & returned somewhat worse for ware, sadly to the demise of our claret!! & likewise we have had many a marvellous time on their side of the river only to suffer the consequences the next day. David will be so sadly missed by us & our guests that have come to stay at the cottage for a spot of fishing, such a wonderful character & gentleman, fishing the Findhorn will never be quite the same.

With our fondest love, Robert & Linda
